Discover fire retardant coatings
Our flame retardants have been developed for fire protection, and by increasing the resistance of materials to fire they also act as thermal insulators. It is also a type of insulation that has excellent durability, and meets the requirements for passive fire protection. It aims to help meet the standards of fire protection.

FLAME-RETARDANT COATINGS
Loranger Coatings offers high quality flame-retardant coatings. Having acquired a rich experience in the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the production of construction materials, we provide our customers with only the most modern, reliable and safe products.
Products for Metal Structures
The main objective of the flame retardant is to isolate the metal structure from the harmful effects of fire or high temperatures. Although metal is not characterized by combustion, under the thermal influence it becomes more flexible, can become deformed and lose its weight-bearing capacity. The method of using a flame retardant is called passive protection and is included in the package of fire-safety measures.
When using this coating, a special film is formed on the metal surface, which significantly slows down the combustion process and prevents the rapid destruction of the structure. Such a film has a certain degree of thermal insulation which is resistant to fire and thermal fatigue (deformation due to the constant alternation of heating and cooling).
Destination Zone
Many factors can cause a fire: violation of safety rules, arson, faulty wiring and much more. For the most complete protection against fire, and to avoid serious consequences for metal structures, fire retardants are used. Thus, the thermal resistance of the building increases due to the slow heating of the metal.
The flame retardant can be used indoors or outdoors and is intended for specific conditions. It can be produced in the form of paint, varnish, impregnation, or paste.
Expanded vermiculite and asbestos are obsolete options for protecting products from fire as they lead to a heavier structure, which has a detrimental effect on the general characteristics of the building. In addition, their complex installation process considerably increases the labour costs.
Refractory linings are widely used for processing steel and reinforced concrete structures, as well as air ducts in industrial, energy and transportation industries. The composition of a high-quality product, lends itself well for a variety of products, improving the properties and characteristics of surfaces.
How to Use Flame-Retardant Coatings
Before using the flame retardant, surfaces must be cleaned and degreased. It is recommended to sand them for better adhesion with the coating, and then to treat them with an anti-corrosion primer.
To apply the coating, tools such as a roller, spray gun, or brush are used. Using a spray gun will shorten the process. The paint should be applied in several coats, with each coat not more than 1 mm.
Each subsequent coat is applied once the previous one has completely dried. Uniformity of application must be continuously monitored during the execution of the work. The dyeing process should take place at temperatures above zero.
Flame Retardant Advantages
Our flame retardant has been specially developed for use on building envelopes that do not have thick load-bearing metal structures.
Our coating offers several advantages:
- Durability (over 30 years lifespan) indoors;
- High rate of flame-retardant properties;
- One-component composition which does not need to be mixed mechanically;
- Low consumption at low cost;
- Possibility of tinting without deteriorating performance;
- Blocks and suppresses the flame near the protected surface.
Loranger’s flame-retardant coating allows to reach the highest limit of fire resistance of the metal structures of the load-bearing elements. To use it, simply apply the coating to the surface like ordinary paint, in coats of 1-3mm.
Flame-retardant paint combined with Loranger’s thermal insulation creates a system with maximum thermophysical properties to protect all kinds of building structures from high temperatures.
